Why do people compare Spaniards with British so often in this forum?

Best bet for finding indigenous English, go to Havering or the Surrey border.

Totally agree, home counties areas are very south east english even just outside or on fringes of london, more saxon like too than areas near me in SW england

This topic i.e. Atlantic Facade used to be never ending in the past on this forum and others. It is not so common now. I think the Moor thing with Spain pops up still but it is most probably people trying to get a rise out of some posters.

What I would like to see is if they will ever be able to measure the Norman ancestry in places like Ireland and also Britain. There are so many Norman origin names in Ireland and of course all the castles that they built around the place.

I'm looking forward to more genetic studies on that sort of thing.

I don't necessarily trust these genetic calculators but I have a hiberno-norman name and they would have been a mix of Scandinavian and French or even Spanish maybe through France. G25 tells me that there is a Spanish connection but the Scandinavian connection is apparently much stronger :

You score 2 (or 3) times more British Isles than NA quite usually, and no one here call you British, same for me or my mother with "another" neighbour country, and if I dare to comment it even joking, they accuse me of having an agenda. And I am only remembering your case and mine, we see here examples every week or day about this, with difefrent Spanish or Portuguese member too.

That was Anthropolique (I'm spelling his name from memory so it might not be correct. ) He didn't have any English or Finnish ancestry. He said he was half Galician and half Breton. He was very passionate about the topic. He never posted any Gedmatch results or dna results for himself though. I didn't mind him as a poster as I always found him quite polite although he got very irate with people that didn't agree with him.

It is great that you are able to see the agenda of others, now to see if you make an effort to recognize the majority and shared agenda of TA members, including yours.

I don't pass spend my whole time here, and I create very rarely threads, so ... I don't care if people think I have an agenda or not.

Disillusion Grace, everything in this forum is politics, identity, nationalism and race.

And none of us who enter here can avoid staining ourselves with all that.

Only that some are less stained than others.

I think sometimes it is good to take a break from this stuff. There is also the problem with trolls on this forum in particular. We are all human and sometimes you get caught up in it. This is the problem with Apricity. People can say virtually whatever they want and there is good and bad in that. You can say anything on here and there are some real wankers on here as well but you can have a virtually unmoderated discussion as well. Unfortunately some people do go out of their way to provoke.

My downfall is when I go on here when I've had a few and that is when I can get a bit argumentative. Anyway I'm trying to stay away from certain topics on here but I do like any genetics discussion.
