I don't think this is true. I know some White Brazilians (who are even of predominantly colonial descent) and they are very much aware that their looks are Iberian/European.
It's true however that phenotypes, genetics, ancestry and history are not a major thing most Brazilians are concerned with.
(Sometimes I ask myself if average White Americans from the US are aware that their looks are European, and not 'American', lol).

Yes, Venetians were the main source of "italian europeans" to Brazil, its possible to perceive how strong is their identity compared to italians of São Paulo city for example, I think the fact that they were located very close to Slovenia, have its own language and its own history with Veneza and its important past contributes a lot to their sentiment of being different like they explain on the video.
