In general, I agree, but there is also one subtle point here. Since the role of Christianity has become weaker than in previous times, then, accordingly, strict observance of all the instructions can make a person an outcast and an outsider in society, a person can be accused of "inability to live." Since it is impossible to hide from society, almost all Christians are forced to adapt to it (selective observance of the Commandments, depending on the current benefit).
If we are talking about thieves and genocidal under the Christian banner, it means that “their” Christianity was undermined already then.
