Red alert. A major sperm bank no longer wants donations from red heads

REDHEADED men are being rejected by the world’s biggest sperm bank because demand for ginger kids is so low.

Ole Schou, director of Cryos in Denmark told Ekstra Bladet newspaper the sperm bank’s stores had reached their peak capacity of 70 litres of semen and there was a waiting list of 600 people willing to lend a hand.

Now that the bank is full, Cryos has decided to be more selective about who can donate.

And gingers are on top of the culling list. Why? Because no one wants them.

“There are too many redheads in relation to demand,” Mr Schou said.

“I do not think you chose a redhead, unless the partner – for example, the sterile male – has red hair, or because the lone woman has a preference for redheads.

“And that’s perhaps not so many, especially in the latter case.”

The only country in the world that seems to want ginger kids is Ireland. The rest of the world prefers small children with brown hair and brown eyes – even the blonde leggy Danish.*

The Guinness Book of World Records lists Cryos as the world’s largest sperm bank. It has 140,000 samples available, ships to more than 65 countries and helps to impregnate close to 2000 women a year.
