North Croats are closest, but when considering only whole nation averages Hungarians are closest, here is the list:

Thank you for your answers. Strange seeing that Ukrainians and Poles are quite distant, on a reddit post I saw on the topic Ukrainians and Poles were one of the closest nations(by Y-DNA).

Y-DNA similarity is limited to relationships along strictly the direct male line. Y-DNA looks only at the Y-chromosome, which is inherited father to son, and so can only be taken by males to explore their direct paternal line. MtDNA and Y-DNA is utilized to identify archeological cultures and migration paths of a person's ancestors along a strict mother's line or a strict father's line.

Stearsolina and I posted autosomal similarity. Autosomal testing looks at chromosomes from 1 to 22 and X. The autosomes (chromosomes 1–22) are inherited from both parents and all recent ancestors. Ethnicity estimates are mostly concluded with this autosomal sort of testing.

Actually they aren't that distant considering both are northern Slavs and Slovenes are south Slavs, they are still closer to you than Montenegrins, or Macedonians/Bulgarians who don't even make it to top 15 closest nation for Slovenians.

I thought I'm close to Slovenians, but not really. No wonder why they are close to regular Hungarians, because I'm not. Sometimes these things surprise me

(for those who don't know, I'm a very Balkan shifted Hungarian)

But how Slavic are Slovenes genetically on average? Would you say about the same as North Slavic nations such as Slovaks, Ukrainians or Czechs?

To find out how Slavic these various populations are, and how they compare, see Stearsolina's thead with Balto-Slavic scale:
    https://www.theapricity.com/forum/sh...o-Slavic-scale

    Target: Slovenian
    Distance: 1.0270% / 0.01026978 | ADC: 0.25x

    64.2 Slavic

    63.6 Slavic

    9.6 Greco-Roman

    Target: Cossack_Kuban

    56.6 Slavic
    34.2 Germanic
    5.2 Balkan
    2.6 Greco-Roman
    1.4 Celtic

    Target: Russian_Kostroma

    Distance: 1.9298% / 0.01929826 | ADC: 0.25x

    67.0 Slavic
