If you want an actual career and to develop fast Italy isn't that kind of place atm. At least that's what my Italian mates say Depends on what kind of priorities you have though. From what i've heard North Italy is better than the south but the wages aren't adjusted well to the cost of living Italy is fucking beautiful though, so you could move for sometime, experience the country and then return to the US.

Torino has some advantages, including the fact that you can easily find a job here especially in industries, the city has a gorgeous town center and you can live outside Torino in small villages or good cities like Cirič, Venaria Reale...
Maybe 20 years ago, not really today. It has some good univ. (e.g. Politecnico) but the job market is somewhat stagnant and the wages are laughable.

Summer can be a real bitch (same as Paris where I lived one year) with peak temp. of 36-37°C, typical Cfa climate similar to Philly/NYC or Tokyo. The central plain (stretching from Pavia to Bologna) is even worse, go figure..

I have family in Torino, the area is far from being disastred economically and as you said Torino universities have a good rank. Fact : one of my cousins was directly hired by a company after his degree at the Politecnico.

That’s being said, there are many problems (that you can find in all over italy), I wouldn’t live there tbh.
