I can remember a buddy from the gym, big strapping guy, was dealing with some depression. Got his testosterone tested and if I remember his result was like 300 something, whatever it was it was, it was low enough that he was prescribed patches or cream or smth. That kinda opened the floodgates and before you knew it he was injecting vet grade steroids into his thighs. In the 6 months or so that he used them, that was the single most dramatic results I ever saw a guy get in the gym. And he was built before he started. He went from like 215 to 240 lbs, (6'2) all muscle. I'll never forget how thick his neck got.
Anyway, whatever he was hoping to achieve using steroids (happiness, fulfillment) it didn't happen and he stopped using them in pretty short order.

Using stereoids while u have normal levels is idiocy, i dont deny their effect but high androgens causes hair loss, infertility and lack of androgen in long term. And also it is too risky for mental health as you mention there was a guy who brutally killed his wife and kid after abusing testesterone.

Steroid use in general, unless through HRT (medically supervised, of course), is a dumb idea—your body adjusts to receiving supplemental T, thereby reducing natural production of testosterone. This accounts for why many men develop gynecomastia once they’ve reached the post-cycle stage.

And we don't forget that our body usually is unable to produce our previous basal T level after steroid use, Hipogonadysm.
