Its seems they are more phonicians/greeks/cypriots christians.
At least here in São Paulo, they do. There're even "Arab nightclubs".

Overall, there's a point: if you're muslim or at least try to look a bit like one (using a taqiyah), be ready to get weird looks even in São Paulo. People are so used to Christian Arabs here that Muslims are somewhat exotic at all.

MENA as in a recent migrant I believe Brazil, a lot of them came here before and after World War 1, leaving many descendants, including many politicians.

If you mean it by DNA, well, many ethnicities could bring about middle eastern genetics, either ancient or from the middle ages/modern ages. One must remember that the DNA seem as mena in iberians is not necessarily moorish, north africa and Iberia have had many ancient contacts and exchanges since antiquity. The same can be said for italians in a different level.

In a more practical and personal way, I may have some DNA that came from the Ottoman Empire, as deep rooted in my bulgarian ancestry I found turkish surnames, people of gagauz origins mixed in the pot along with bulgarians (I don't believe this is very common, as the gagauz is only on one side and not on the other, one is core bulgarian with the most common surname in that country). My geneology pointed that the place of birth isn't as important as their true origins.
All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races, going nowhere, going nowhere

This group of levantines in Latam and their history are complex. São Paulo despite its milions of lebaneses, it seems muslin people are rare. Maybe in Foz do Iguaçu people are more open to real arabs.

Well, there're 7 or 8 mosques in the city, however isn't common to see them on the street except at Brás/Pari.

Bueno, me parece totalmente entendible.
