A person born a woman, legalized as a man, refuses to transfer from prison to a male unit.
Several Argentine media report that the person responsible does not agree with this change since he is biologically a woman and cannot be in a prison with men due to all the mishaps that this may cause to him ... or her ..
The prison service authorities referred the case to the Penal Execution Court, which decided that the inmate be housed together with the rest of the male community.
As detailed by the newspaper El Día , the man entered prison for a crime committed in the province of Entre Ríos but had previously served a sentence in Mendoza, where he was housed in the women's ward."It is the first case that we registered in these conditions as it is presented, due to the change of identity that this person has had," said Marcelo Sánchez, head of the Entre Ríos Penitentiary Service.
The Penal Execution Court, based in Paraná, resolved that he remain, for the moment, in the pavilion behind the jail.
“If we start from the so-called gender identity law, he has done the procedure in the Civil Registry where he made the change of identity, with a male name and what we work on is always according to the will that he has expressed in the Registry Therefore, it must be housed in a men's sector ”, Sánchez concluded.
