Greece to Lend Artifacts to Foreign Museums for Up to 50 Years

The Greek Parliament is to vote on Thursday on a bill which paves the way for the lending of Greek ancient and modern artifacts to foreign museums for up to 50 years.

The Ministry of Culture says the bill, which provides for the possibility of borrowing movable monuments from Greek museums for 25 years – with the possibility of extension for an additional 25 years – will allow the country to project Greek art and culture on a global basis.

If they (the parliament) can make such a decision, it means the artifacts don't belong to you (the people).

I see a lot of people mad, but surely they will be taken care of and I doubt it will be major parts of their catalogue. I enjoy museums and it's nice to see foreign stuff without having to go across the world.

I live to check Debt-to-GDP ratio for such things. I think its fairly good indication of how much power does do the people have. If its close to (or over) 100% (current Greek case) then it means the politicians would do whatever they're being ordered by those above them. If its less than say 85-90% then there is a hope that the politicians would make good decision.
