Towards females but homosexuality towards males? I don't think I've seen a true lesbian unless she's the stereotypical jail tomboy.....

Maybe there is less social stigma against women for same sex activities than for males.

Then again maybe women can be more sexually flexible when it suits them.

For example how many attractive males would be willing to be gigolo's and have sex for money with overweight, not really attractive , or old women as an opportunistic way to make money. Sure there are some males who would and have done that but compared to the % of attractive females who opportunistically provide sex for money the number of males would be much less.
I dont think the difference is only a result of supply and demand.
I think there is some difference also in the mentality between genders about sex/politics of sex that also contributes to this.
Most males wouldnt even consider this as an option even if they were struggling to pay their way through their college degree etc.
But for a pretty girl struggling to pay her way through college as a plan B or C it may well be considered as a viable option.

Not really. You have no idea what you are talking about. It is because those butches are not "lesbians" but bisexuals with heavy preference for women. There are a lot of impostors in the so called "lesbian community". A significant amount of "lesbians" are actually bisexuals, queers, straights larping as one because they see it as a lifestyle, something cool and fun or just a way to get away from men.

Women seem to have a more flexible approach to their sexuality, but this can partially explained by both social and internalized stigma. Modern societies are more tolerant of female sexual fluidity (until a certain point) and this directly impacts the bisexuals in particular.
