I used to occasionally pick up harmless-looking people flagging a ride until a woman, probably high on drugs, asked to borrow 20 dollars to help pay her rent, but sensing she needed drugs, I refused, at which she said, Give it to me or I'll scream and say you tried to rape me. This was at an intersection, people everywhere, so I gave it, but a block after crossing she asked for 5 more, so I stopped the car, raised my fist at her, looked angry, and she got out. Now, even if someone honestly needs a ride, I can't help.

No, I never fear people, but yes, there is a certain skepticism with some.

I have a bit of social anxiety too (far worse back when I was a child, but its still there somewhat) so I get kinda intimidated by larger crowds of people sometimes. Like I go for runs nearly everyday but I typically never go to areas where there are more people, its actually part of the reason I moved to Sitges and not the city in an area like Eixample or Gràcia. I don't mind going on a Friday night or whatever and being around the insanity, however, everyday and it starts to get suffocating, not so much now with the virus but you get what I mean.
