Paris fire kills Arab Spring refugees

Six Arab Spring refugees died and four were seriously injured in a fire in a Paris squat today.

The men had broken into a council building after being moved on from local parks. Hundreds of migrants have travelled there from North Africa in the hope of building new lives.

Het pand, dat op de nominatie stond om gesloopt te worden, werd illegaal bewoond door zo'n dertig vluchtelingen uit Tunesië, Libië en Egypte.

The building, which was already on the demolition list, was squatted illegally by around thirty refugees from Tunesia, Libya and Egypt.



De brand in de gemeente Pantin brak vanochtend rond zes uur uit en was rond acht uur onder controle. De oorzaak van de brand is waarschijnlijk een kaars geweest.

The fire in Pantin municipality started around 6 'o clock in the morning and was under control around 8. The cause may potentially be found in a candle.

De Franse minister van Binnenlandse Zaken heeft inmiddels een bezoek gebracht aan het uitgebrande pand.

The French Interior Minister has visited the site.


Like the Interior Minister would visit a building where French burned to death ("too busy" -- "the maire can do it".).. but he is going to a building where illegal immigrants met their demise.
