An urban legend that I've heard in Sweden is that the Dutch thought that having surnames was a silly idea when the government forced them to adopt one, so some purposely came up with 'bad' surnames. Many Scandinavians don't have actual surnames, but carry patronyms adopted as family names.

There were always some first names, but we mostly used patronyms like the Swedes until the French occupiers thought it would be a wonderful idea to force last names on everybody so, indeed, people came up with ridiculous names. But Vlaardingerbroek is not one of them, and neither is my own. In her case, it's a geographic indicator which points at her ancestors having come from the floodplains near Vlaardingen.

    and avoid this.

Someday they will realize what they lost by despising and insulting the only civilization in the entire planet that has respected and loved them, perhaps their daughters or granddaughters.

Thank God I'm not dyslexic. I know how hard such people struggle. Interestingly, not having a phonetically-written language, I also notice many Anglophones struggle with the easiest of phonetically-written words in other languages to the point a non-Anglophone would be seen as unintelligent if he would. I believe the Anglophone world is an underdeveloped society at reading because their brains develop differently when learning to read from ours.

Yet, English is an easy language to learn, also to spell despite of its very unorthodox spelling.

I knew a guy (with Swedish as native language of course) who claimed to be dyslexic to the point that it could interfere in working at the cash register. He was from a higher socioeconomic background and would eat in a way that seemed unorthodox to the working class.
