I love studying languages, Greek is the most appealing, both attractive to the eye and sophisticated.
But I struggle with the acquisition of languages that are neither Romance nor Germanic.

I can understand some Spanish and Italian as well but not able to answer back. I am trying to learn Welsh now, wish me luck! Dw i'n hoffi Cymraeg!

Same issue here. I tried to learn Russian but could never proceed beyond a few words and idioms. Eventually I gave up.

I speak only Russian and English, and I understand a bit Ukrainian and Polish.



I remember some members who speak more than 3 languages.

I sincerely believe that most of those who have posted here overestimate their knowledge of other languages.

I have preferred not to say anything about Italian and Portuguese although especially Portuguese can be understood more or less well, I can´t speak it correctly and I have problems to understand it well when it´s spoken.

In fact I just know Spanish.

Oi cara, ta tudo bem com você ?

1- I speak Brazilian, a watered-down version of the noble language that once was spoken by Camões
2- When I don't pay enough attention, my Portuguese is punctuated with Spanish words, so in other words I speak a kind of Portuñol
3- I hardly understand native Portuguese when they speak at a normal pace, you sound like drunk Poles trying to speak Spanish, too much "ch" "j" "z" for my taste. At least Brazilians sound more familiar.
