Strange topic. Its better to comparing whiskey with brandy and beer with wine. I prefer beer and wine to whiskey and brandy, and grappa, rakia, grape vodka to middle price brandy, prefer good grain moonshine/samogon to middle price whiskey.

Whiskey all the way... Bourbon, specifically. Jim Beam, more specifically. But I'm partial to 15-year-old Glenfiddich or Glenlivet as well.

Wine for sure, red dry one, and berry/fruit spirits, too, not from cereals.

Wine, ideally red. The milder, less heavy flavours of white wine don't appeal to me. Else, beer while grilling outside.
I don't drink liquors, spirits, distillates or any alcohol over approx 30%, the alcohol overpowers the actual taste and makes the entire experience moot; I've tasted plenty of rum, whiskey, and spirits people claimed were delicious, but to me they all taste predominantly like their alcohol content and nothing else. I don't care about getting drunk.
