it's quite common (even more so than the european look I'd say) and no it has nothing to do with mongol or east asian dna. It's simply an indigenous trait maybe linked to some kind of convergent evolution or related to Upper paleolithic populations of North Africa.

Agree, what is interesting also is how that look is almost totally absent from Iberia despite it often occurring in Morocco, the book The Living Races of Man by Coon spoke about the look being derived from a relic Khoisan population, the king of Morocco is also a great example of such a phenotype.

I'm an outsider from the middle east region, so this information is very new to me. I would like to know what these indigenous people are called so I can look them up and do more research about them.
