In homage to the new retired Queen of Denmark, Her Majesty Queen Margarethe II.
1972 was the first time Queen Margrethe II gave her first New Year's speech as Queen of Denmark. She ascended the throne on 14 January 1972 after the death of her father, King Frederick IX.

Today, marks the 52nd anniversary of her accession to the throne and the day she decided to abdicate and pass the throne to her son, Crown Prince Frederick. Today I decided to deliver the Kong Christian stod ved højen mast, which was played after she finished her New Year's speech and hopes that this recording will stay in the hearts of all Danes and people around the world.
