Presentation of Denmark's history and contribution to Western defense and the Atlantic Community. "Introducing Denmark" is part of a series originally designed as "Know your Allies", and finally titled "the Atlantic Community Series". Its objectives were to familiarize public opinion in each of the member country with the other Alliance members and to emphasize the national contributions to Western culture and political traditions, economic reconstruction and allied defense in the framework of NATO. The series was produced between 1954 and 1956 and financed by the US government in the context of the Marshall Plan with the cooperation of the Information Service of NATO, and distributed by NATO. The films in the Atlantic Community Series received large non-theatrical distribution and, in some cases, were shown in cinemas and on TV. Welcome to another trip report! On August 20, I flew Air Greenland from Copenhagen, Denmark to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland in Business Class. This was one of the coolest flights I've ever taken because I love flying to Arctic places. Air Greenland (previously known as Greenlandair) is the flag carrier and only airline based in Greenland. They operate a fleet of 32 aircraft and are owned by the Greenlandic Government. Besides running scheduled services and government-contracted flights to most villages in the country, they also support remote research stations and provide charter services for tourists and Greenland's energy and mineral-resource industries along with medivac operations during emergencies. They technically have seven subsidiaries: the airline, hotels, tour operators, a travel agency specialized in Greenlandic tourism, and the Arctic Umiaq Line, an unprofitable but government-subsidized ferry service that I am interested in doing a video on in the near future. Welcome to another trip report! On August 20, I flew Air Greenland from Kangerlussuaq, GL to Nuuk, GL through Maniitsoq, GL. Nuuk is the capital and largest city in Greenland with over 17,000 residents. Air Greenland (previously known as Greenlandair) is the flag carrier and only airline based in Greenland. They operate a fleet of 32 aircraft and are owned by the Greenlandic Government. Besides running scheduled services and government-contracted flights to most villages in the country, they also support remote research stations and provide charter services for tourists and Greenland's energy and mineral-resource industries along with medivac operations during emergencies. Filmed on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Nuuk, Greenland's capital, is a small city on the country's southwest coast. Its large fjord system is known for waterfalls, humpback whales and icebergs. The waterfront is dotted with brightly colored houses against the backdrop of Sermitsiaq mountain. The major cities closest to Nuuk are Iqaluit and St. John's in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains almost a third of Greenland's population and its tallest building. Nuuk is also the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. In January 2019, it had a population of 17,984.
