I've been to UK, but never came across this 'treat', ahem ...

If you would serve it in Poland or were caught eating it you would be considered a runaway from a madhouse very likely. For Poles BREAD + POTATO never combine. Pork choppings seem or meat with mint sauce seem perfectly ordinary to me ... but the Mars bar is fried in breadcrumbs is not.

Albeit when I think again it is maybe not that strange ...as Polish Pierogi Ruskie are made from flour and are stuffed with potato filling among other ghings.

More prevalent in the North of England than elsewhere. I think some school tuck shops also sell it.

Yes, best with a large soft bun, plenty of salt and vinegar, ketchup, top notch

Some do. Certain family members. It's just chips in bread, big deal - hardly disgusting, but unhealthy. People in Australia sometimes have chips in Kebab/Souvlaki (with everything else).

    Fried Mars Bar is Scottish.

I always like when people delight in the simple things.

I think the North has a preference for gravy with chips as well, I quite like it but you can't get it down here very often.

I have eaten deep fried black pudding and chips in glasgow after a night out, also deep fried pizza

Obviously I did not mean that it disgusts me. I just find it odd.

Not had one in a few years.

I'd say crisp sandwiches/butties are more common.
