I never thought I would say it, but maybe those Dutchmen greeting German troops with an outstretched right arm were the wiser ones. I don't like the Russians, but if they were to invade at this point, I would hail them as liberators. Rather them, then the ones who occupy us now. The Russians would merely want to occupy us, the current rulers want to genocide us.

Seen from hindsight, they may well have been. Our own elite fled the country after two days, taking the money with them. At the same time, hundreds were dying for Queen and Country while the German attack plans clearly indicated that they wanted to avoid unnecessary bloodshed by giving an immediate knock-out blow. They sought to take the country in a single morning and failed because the Dutch Army, driven by loyalty towards those who had betrayed them, fought to the bitter end. I hope that when the Russians come, they will throw down their weapons on the spot. This government isn't worth dying for.
