I doubt in the long run that in a post-modern, secularized/irreligious, pro-globalization and diversity, populations living side by side will maintain a form of sexual segregation. Only among religious groups from both sides, a resistance against mixing will stay, otherwise there are no reasons.

Indeed, Islam will collapse as a massive societal phenomenon in the Arab world, like Christianity, it's a matter of 3 generations max (75-100 years). There will be like among Jews, a core group of 10% that are, dialectically (as a reaction of massive secularization), very "orthodox" and "religious". The remaining population will be only "cultural", in the Christian sense (some small practices), or even outspoken atheist-agnostics.

It's one of the multiple internal contradictions of being a "Jewish, but yet democratic society" (the political motto of Israel)..., but that's another issue, outside the scope of this thread.

It's more an identity politics issue (contrasting oneself against the White Western hegemonic culture) than a spiritual awakening, generally speaking.
But on the same time, they are completely immersed into the Western modernity (higher level of education, individualism, urbanization, technological progress - smartphones, social networks, computers, Internet, cars, fashion clothing), I doubt it would survive even more than 1 generation for those born and raised in the West.

It's funny because I've been to Israel only once, on holiday, and I've met in Akko a guy whose father was Muslim and whose mother was Jewish. But I'm aware it's an exception.
