Notice, none of them are complaining about megacorp General Electric, which paid no taxes on record profits and received loads of corporate subsidies.

General Electric owns the MSNBC channel, which is the main US media channel promoting these protests.

Four hundred arrests -- that is the tally for the last 24 hours, as police stage an intense crackdown on massive Occupy Wall Street protests erupting in America, with more than 30,000 protesters having shown up in New York City alone.

Hardly massive. The local one here, 'Occupy DC', is apparently the 2nd or 3rd largest, and when I went down there a few weeks ago there was only maybe 50-60 people. Probably a lot less than that still there now, with the weather being colder.

That's not even possible, the park is only 33,000 square feet, so they couldn't even fit that many people if they packed them in like sardines, never mind setting up tents. It looks like in the 300-1000 range, at most.

Went down to check out the local one again.

They have a few sensible people there, which I talked to.

They seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on conferences and committees discussing things. As in, all day, every day, is spent on hour long meetings of the sanitation committee, safety committee, all sorts of random committees and caucuses. They seem to make themselves Very Busy all day in order to feel Very Important.

For example, if someone at a Tea Party event littered a plastic water bottle, people around would immediately yell at the person on their own initiative to pick it up, and if the person did not pick up the water bottle, any one of random nearby people would simply pick up the discarded bottle and throw it in the trash.

Occupy DC, on the other hand, would convene a meeting of the sanitation committee, come to a consensus after two hours that the discarded water bottle is unacceptable, then caucus with members of the hydration & beverages committee for another hour, and eventually issue a detailed announcement that an appointed person would pick up the discarded water bottle, and for in the future to please not litter water bottles, and a team of 3-4 people would be dispatched to counsel the offending miscreant on alternatives to discarding the water bottle on the ground.

They really are that bad, you have to see it in action.


Also, they have displaced the actual real homeless people who normally hang out in the park. I saw them hanging out in the Metro station across the street. I'm not sure where they go at night when the lock up the Metro station.
