Then perhaps you should grab a bong and try to fit in with the protesters. Though from the looks of your posts on this thread you already are...

I hope these anarchists get Mayor Daley'd.

    1. Which one?
    2. Why?

You're only really saying that you didn't like his policies, but that does not make him a dictator. His powers were limited by law, and therefore he was not a dictator by definition.

Like I said, you're merely throwing around the word dictator without knowing what it means. Bush was an elected leader, and his actions represented the will of his people, if the 2004 election is any indication.

But I suspect now that you're just being bombastic; surely no one could be so stupid.

I'm inclined to root for the protestors, but it seems that they are wrongheaded about the whole concept of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience should be narrowly directed at laws they see as unjust, and as Gandhi stated, one should be ready to pay the full consequences of breaking those laws. The protestors, in contrast, break laws against disruption of traffic and maybe against building closing times. If the protests were against the use of automobiles, that might make some sense.

Just because a person is elected it doesnt mean they dont have their own behind the scenes real agenda to adhere to.....and it doesnt mean that what they do has the concensus of the people who voted for them.

Look at president Johnsons decision to escalate the war in Vietnam in 1965 in total and cynical disregard to the will of the electorate as an example.

When people seriously start speaking of American leaders as if they have no more legitimacy than Third World madmen, it's time to pass the kool-aid.

There is no reason to expect American presidents to be immune from the historical process of self-delusion.

The British used to call material interest "bearing the white mans burden" to justify it..The Americans call it "war on terror"..."spreading freedom and democracy".....same old $hit, different wrapper.
