    I live near a large arm leading to the ocean. The people on the other side of the arm (1.2km) have a different accent from the local one.

    My father has an accent, he must have 12% (or a little more) of purely Picard vocabulary (old French, if you prefer), the rest being modern French words but pronounced with a Picard accent from Gouy-Saint-André.

    Rural people from where I live have a different accent from people in the city around an hour's drive away.
