The reality is, that the UK lost 80 percent of their market at the stroke of a pen.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Well yes, but no deal would have meant no access for Dutch and French fishermen at all. It is a fck up but people want to make it so if they can, on all sides, which is a shame, everything is so entrenched nowadays

Hopefully it will be fixed as most fishermen are now heading to Denmark according to their reports and Peterhead was empty. The knock on effect will be terrible.

Getting publicity is good because of the potential long-term damage of a domino effect.

The fisherman were more pro brexit. They were stuck between a rock and hard place as the EU was not great for them but this is looking worse at the moment.

The UK imports most of their fish because they don't like the fish that is in their own waters which they sell to Europe. Brexit has never made sense to me.

Roger Daltry voted for Brexit and this is what he said in 2019.

The Who‘s Roger Daltrey says Brexit won’t affect British musicians. The frontman, who has previously defended his pro-Brexit views, was asked whether Brexit would be ‘bad for British rock music’.
“No. What’s it got to do with the rock business?” he told Sky News. “How are you going to tour in Europe?” the interviewer replied.
“Oh dear. As if we didn’t tour Europe before the f****** EU,” he said. “Oh give it up!”

From the NME, March 17, 2019

People that voted for Brexit are like Roger Daltry, from the Who. Not realising the implications of what they were voting for.

Roger Daltry now has signed a petition along with a 100 other musicians attacking the Brexit deal.

Turns out it will now cost British musicians a lot more to tour Europe because there won't be free movements for musicians so they will have to pay for visas which will make it very difficult for British musicians trying to make a name for themselves in Europe i.e. some of the newer acts trying to get established.

I've never understood why anyone would vote for Brexit which I've stated on here previously. It just makes zero sense that you would make it a lot more difficult and more expensive to trade with your biggest buyer and nearest neighbours. That's only the tip of the iceberg as well.

People voted for Brexit due to immigration, basically. Not having control of own borders and the population increase since 1997 (running at 300,000+ net increase a year), the need to build hundreds of thousands of houses every year endlessly in a small island, building on formerly protected green belt - all this was whipped up by Farage and elements of the press for years.

The EU was the target for this feeling of helplessness at these population increases due to freedom of movement. It is a fairly basic blood and soil reasoning, small minded mentality rather than harking back to empire as many say it is.

The fact that most of the mainstream media see this thinking is racist and illiberal has helped propagate the sense of chaos in the last 4 years,.

It is shame really, media and press on both sides have a lot of responsibility

Ironic as I'd consider this current government who campaigned for Brexit as diverse, where the home secretary is Priti Patel.

Boris Johnson is a politically central diverse Londoner who said some daft stuff in the past that the "PC gone mad" brigade lapped up.

The UKIPy types are still outside looking in.

Ukip flag has been flying high since 2016, they did their job. Boris has written supporting remain in the past.. , his support of the EU leave campaign certainty helped it win and then become prime minister, which was his ambition more than anything else

What is that saying “The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.”

You would have to be strange to want to deal with all of this.

People from the EU have freedom of movement which was reciprocal and also a lot of people from the EU might eventually go back to their own countries after a period of time. The thing is the UK let in a lot of non-EU migrants which had nothing to do with the EU. These people are much less likely to leave. In fact now EU immigration has decreased but on the other hand non-EU immigration has increased. The UK will still have people coming in but they will be from non-EU countries.

Net migration to the UK from countries outside the European Union has risen to its highest level for 45 years, the Office for National Statistics says.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-52752656

This is not going to change and it is obvious as well that if you cut down on EU immigration your non-EU immigration will increase. This has always been in the control of the UK government and even with EU people they had to get work or leave after 6 months. The UK government was quite entitled to deport EU citizens if they were a burden.

After a total of six months they can be removed if they still have not found a job, and have no realistic possibility of finding one, and require support from the welfare system.

These rules have been in place since early 2014, and are in line with existing EU legislation.

Yes very true, the cult of the personality and ambitious politicians/leaders has caused untold strife throughout history,
