Hah Bulgaria looks like one more ex-Soviet republic for me in comparsion with Serbia where I spent years. It's not about average salary etc but about mentality of people and the way for example the villages and cities look like.

I don't see anything bad about it. Everything old is renovated and esepcially the bigger towns are getting modernised. I do remember very vague some things when I was a small kid 2004-2005. Old and ugly commie blocks, trash everywhere, no infrastructure. My parents told me that there was a big difference between Bulgaria and Western Europe back then, but now it doesn't exist.

While in Serbia they still smoke in their gas stations and you can hear their turbo-folk music at their malls. Like Bulgaria 10-15 years ago.

Despite being part of the SOviet sphere of influence, the people from the Soviet union always felt as they are in the West during their holiday in Bulgaria. The average Russians can only wish to have the Bulgarian living conditions.

I'm guessing you speak English when you are in Serbia? because Serbian and Russian have about 5% intelligibility.

Most of Russians and Serbians learn both languages realtively fast, especially when they live in Serbia/Russia. I gave up using English language after 3-4 months in Serbia struggling with heavy mistakes through practice, never visited any courses or something similar.

Well I know Serbian and Russian have alot of words in common, but I'm talking about the pronunciation, they are totally different from each other thats what makes it hard for serbs to understand russians and vice-versa. Sounding like a Serb probably takes more practice than learning a few different words.

Well yes identifying with an Asiatic horde who murdered Slavs and raped Slavic women while your language is slavicas well.as around 1/3 of your DNA is slavic makes zero sense. Its just common sense and reason which unfortunately isnt a prominent feature of today"s Bulgarians. They are nothing special honestly, the history of today"s slavic Bulgarians started sometime in the 19th century. Truth.
