In 1821 and 1854 and 1897 wars there were no Slavic speakers in Macedonia - Slavic speakers came with Excharte and all its Bulgarian schools and churches.

Interesting how noone in North Macedonia knows about him and many others like him. They do remember the "bugarski fasistki okupator" as the biggest enemy, but are silent about the murders of VMRO members during Yugoslavia.

My paternal ancestors were Patriarchists and never identified as Bulgarians. Our village did not accept the Exarchate and this only changed with the arrival of the Serbs.

There is also page in Macedonian and it has much more detailed information about the destiny of this person and why exactly he was killed. I just gave the biography of him as an example. There are many people with such destiny.

Fascism is as bad as communism.

Communism won after WW2, that's why we view fascism as something bad today, but especially our nation had benefits from it as the national unification became reallity through fascism. During fascism, none of the former/present (back then) members of VMRO were killed or repressed. They only won medals and national recognition for their actions.

You cannot praise the heroes of the Macedonian struggle against Greeks and Serbs and at the same time be pro-Serbian and anti-Bulgarian (like modern Macedonians).

That's actually what Bulgaria wants at the moment. North Macedonia to recognize the shared history with Bulgaria and the Bulgarian nation until the end of WW2, because until then, the struggle was Bulgarian.

It is a real shame for us, here in Bulgaria, that you try to mix our history and try to make connection of it with your Serbo-Macedonistic reallity after WW2. You can claim to be from Mars if you wish, but your new reallity has nothing to do with the old one.

As a Christian, i am unable to lie. I seek truth. And so should every other professing Christian.

Are Macedonian Slavs part of the Bulgarian ethnicity? Or at least, were they once part of it?

Macedonians claim Shapkarev to be ethnic Macedonian. But we all know that any Macedonian today espousing his ideas would be condemned and labeled a Bugaroman.

But then we also have some Macedonian historians who claim the context of the term "Bulgarian" was strictly socio-religious in nature. Dispelling the possibility that it was ethnic.

From what I have heard people in Macedonia that identify as Bulgarians are treated the same as Trump supporters in the USA. They are demonized and cancelled at every opportunity and most people won't even give them a job.

Very few of them can make a living there, and are forced to immigrate to Bulgaria or somewhere else.

So there might be a lot more people in Macedonia who identify with Bulgaria but are not public with it because it can literally ruin their life.
