Morocco is Spain since remote times, when it was conquered by the romans and named as Hispania Transfretana (beyond the fretum or strait) or Mauritania Tingitana (since its capital city was Tingis, today Tánger) or simply Tingitania, and incorporated to Hispania. Later, it went over the Regnum Visigothorum Spaniae, when Spain was born as a country, after the III Concilium of Toledo.

For that reason, Spain had planned to keep up with the Reconquista beyond the strait once it had finished in the peninsula, to recover that part of Spain. Only the discovery of America avoided it then.

The issue is clear. No other country has more rights on Morocco than Spain.
