Brazil is such a big country. Are there regional variations when it comes to phenotypes? According to some brazilian users the south is basically white.

You know well I am not Brazilian. But I believe this is their last census:

    White (47.7%)
    Pardo (Multiracial) (43.1%)
    Black (7.6%)
    Asian (1.1%)
    Natives (0.4%)

It varies by the region but from what I recall:

Average white Brazilian is over 82% Euro
Average pardo is around 60% Euro
Average black Brazilian is around 30% Euro

^ Something like that. Most whites in Brazil live in the Southeast and South and those two regions account for half of the Brazilian population.

Yes. But the proportion that differs, all the types can be find in all places of the country.

The Midwest is whiter than in the past, for example, since many farmers from the south, of Germanic/Polentone/Slavic extraction, have been migration to those lands in the last decades.

    North is more mestizo.

Bahia is the blackest. RJ has also a significant black imput, more in the capital than in the mountain areas, but significantoy whiter than the latter.

Inland northeast is more mestizo shifted than the coastal areas of the same region, which are more black influenced.

The south is the whites region, but you can find, of course, pardos and blacks there.

Since, after independence, the south had low population density, the immigration of Europeans and their high birthrates had a big genotypical/phenotypical impact in te region.

Minais Gerais, in the Southeast, is probably the most Portuguese state in the country, with the biggest colonial Portuguese imput, mainly from Minho (Minhotos), which migrated to there during the Gold Rush, with this migration being bigger than the whole Spanish imput in colonial Hispanic America.
