Default Germanic speakers: can you understand Gothic?

This is the Parable of the Sower and the Seed in Wulfila's Visigothic. Wulfila's Bible is one of the earliest texts in any Germanic language and was written in the middle 4th century. His text was highly influential amongst the Goths and was crucial in their conversion to Christianity. Gothic is by far the most conservative attested Germanic language and closely resembles what Proto-Germanic would have looked like.

In the right column there are some obvious cognates in German and English. How much of this can you understand?

This is like a mix of Latin and Scandinavian. I don’t understand anything as German speaker.

Have you looked at the right column? I could understand 80% with the help of it.

Really? I don’t understand anything tbh. I compared some German and Gotic sentences, both are obviously Germanic languages but without that comparison i wouldn’t understand it.

Ok. I have a decent grasp of Germanic sound shifts so maybe the cognates look more obvious to me than to most other people.

Since i suffered 6 years with Latin lessons, this text looks more Latin influenced haha. I get some deja vu feelings if i am reading this...

Well, it's a religious text and I recognize "Jah", but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean what I think it means.
