I agree. Once difference between daily min and max (daily amplitude) in Kosanica was 33c
Only good things with climate of plateaus in the Balkans are fresh nights during the summer, even during the heat waves. Large part of Serbia (especially Belgrade and Vojvodina) and part of Montenegro even more (coast, Podgorica, Danilovgrad) have tropical nights in summer, especially in hate waves. Places as Kosanica, Sjenica and some other do not have tropical nights.

    Interesting video.

Well, there's no huge temperature gap between night and day during such nights so it's not harmful, that's more important.

In Belgrade area and Vojvodina i hate the most in the summer time often high humidity and mosquitoes. High temperatures wouldn't be so unpleasant with lower humidity.

First day with daily minimum below -20c in winter 2022/23 was on February 1, it was -20.9c https://abload.de/img/cgminimalci01.02.2023gpc9z.jpg
In winter 2021/22 Kosanica had a lot of days with minimums below -20c, this winter in the entire Balkans and most of the rest of Europe is quite warmer than average.

In this January average daily minimum in Kosanica was for 1.5c lower than in Karajukića Bunari (place in Serbia on the plateau with similar climate and elevation). In Karajukića Bunari average minimum in January for referent period 1991-2020 is -9.1c, average maximum is 0.4c, and daily mean is -4.5c. If difference between these places in long term is as in this January than average minimum in Kosanica for 1991-2020 would be -10.6c. I think Kosanica has even little lower average minimum in January than K. Bunari in long term than what was in this January, and average low in Kosanica in this month is closer to -11c than to -10.5c. Daily mean in January in Kosanica for 1991-2020 period is most likely about -5.5c. Daily high in this January in Kosanica was for only 0.1c lower than in K. Bunari. In all seasons are bigger differences in daily minimums than in maximums between these places.
Kosanica is for only 38 m higher than K. Bunari, and it's colder than it should be than K. Bunari if only elevation were taken into account. Obviously Kosanica is exposed to a stronger plateau effect than Karajukića Bunari. Which makes sense since around Kosanica plateau are mountains over 2000 m and even over 2500 m (Durmitor 2523 m), and around Pešter plateau where K. Bunari is located the highest mountains are 1700-1800 m.

According to current forecast, quite low minimums are possible on the Balkan plateaus in the next few days since February 7. WeatherOnline gives to Sjenica -20c on February 7, and -18c on February 8 https://i.ibb.co/tmmNRsq/IMG-20230203-140332.jpg
If that minimums in Sjenica happens, Karajukića Bunari and Kosanica will be for sure colder. Kosanica could be even for 10c colder than Sjenica, and that means Kosanica could catch -30c
Colder air is coming to the Balkans in the next days, and probably more snow in these places. Sjenica currently has 10 cm of snow, K. Bunari and Kosanica certainly more. In the next days with cold air only a clear nights will be needed in these places for very low minimums, since snow cover will be present on the ground.

In my area the temperature probably will not be lower than -7c or -8c at the peak of the colder period.

This morning the temperature dropped to -30c https://i.ibb.co/jvZqHB9/IMG-20230210-140325.jpg
Next night should be also clear and very cold. If today's maximum in Kosanica would be lower than yesterday's i think there is a chance for even lower minimum tomorrow morning. Maximum yesterday was -4.14c and today's minimum precisely -29.94 (which means fall for 25.8c).

Some places in Romania and Turkey this morning as well had minimums of around -30c

List of stations in Montenegro which had strong frost (below -10c) today https://abload.de/img/cgminimalci10.02.2023xoe1d.jpg

In the coastal town Herceg Novi this is firth day with frost in a row, that is a rare for Med climate.
Herceg Novi is btw my favorite place in Montenegro. Because Serbs are majority there and in the last 7-8 years is happening strong cultural and national awakening of Serbs in Bay of Kotor with the center in Herceg Novi, stronger than anywhere in Montenegro. Some my cousins have real estates in Herceg Novi.

Sjenica several times had temperatures bellow -30c in the past (the lowest was -38.4c in January 1954). Probably Kosanica had somethimes temperatures bellow -40c but there was no weather station when that happened. Sjenica had low of -19c yesterday in the morning when Kosanica was -29.5c
For the roughly reconstruction the lowest temperature in long term, differences between Kosanica and Pljevlja in very low minimums during the cold waves on clear night with in previous two years should be used.
Comparison in some days with such conditions in month January and February:
    Kosanica -23c / Pljevlja -14.2c (Jan 14, 2022)
    Kosanica -25.2c / Pljevlja -11.4c (Jan 16, 2022)
    Kosanica -23.7c / Pljevlja -13.4c (Jan 19, 2022)
    Kossnica -29.2c / Pljevlja -16.3c (Jan 22, 2022)
    Kosanica -22.5c / Pljevlja -11.5c (Jan 24, 2022)
    Kosanica -33.4c / Pljevlja -19.7c (Jan 25, 2022)
    .....
    Kosanica -20.9c / Pljevlja -9.2c (Feb 1, 2023)
    Kosanica -26.5c / Pljevlja -16.4c (Feb 9, 2023)
    Kosanica -29.9c / Pljevlja -16.1c (Feb 10, 2023)
    Kosanica -28.9c / Pljevlja -14.9c (Feb 11, 2023)
    Kosanica -20.4c / Pljevlja -8.7c (Feb 12, 2023)
    Kosanica -29.5c / Pljevlja -14.6c (Feb 16, 2021)
    .....
It seems in such conditions is usual that minimums in Kosanica are for about 12c lower in January than in Pljevlja, and for about 13c in February. But it seems tendency is that difference is bigger on lower minimums. Among these values up in January the biggest difference is 13.7c, when both places had the lowest temperatures. I would say for roughly reconstruction of lowest temperature in Kosanica in previous 75 years, the lowest temperature in Pljevlja in that periods of -29.4c (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pljevlja#Climate) should be downgraded for about 14c. That means the lowest temperature in Kosanica in previous 75 years potentially would be between -43c and -44c. Which match with officially lowest ever temperature recorded in the Balkans on locality Veliko Polje (-43c) on the Igrman mount in Bosnia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igman). They also have match in elevation - Veliko Polje 1190 m, Kosanica 1205 m.

Kosanica is definitely the coldest inhabited place in the Balkans. Some villages in western/central Balkans at significant higher elevation probably have lower average annual temperatures, but Kosanica for sure have by far lower extreme minimums.

Professor from university of Ljubljana says that geomorphological heterogeneity also caused topoclimatic heterogeneity, so the found out in recent years, for example, that minimum temperatures in some localities on Durmitor and Sinjajevina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinjajevina) often fall bellow -30c.
"The lowest temperature we measured in locality Valoviti do, on Durmitor, was -40c on January 4, 2011, and on Sinjajevina on December 13, 2012 it was -38.5c" say Ogrin.

On January 4, 2011 when professor Ogrin measured -40c in Valoviti do, minimum temperature in Žabljak was only -14.1c. On December 13, 2012 when he measured -38.5c on Sinjajevina; Žabljak had minimum -19.4c, Pljevlja -21.7c and Kolašin -20.7c
