Kosanica had all first 12 days of this April with frost, and 3 ice days among them. Low temperatures there and in places on similar elevation in the region in this time of year are not problem. Because fruits and vegetables do not grow there, except potatoes and hazelnuts. One the other hand in lower areas and plains in region in the first several days of this April snow and light to medium frosts damaged fruit flowers. In some areas damage is almost 100%. On the altitudes below 500 or 600 m (depends of region) vegetation has started or partly started before cold wave in early the April, because March was warmer than average.

Central Balkans, part of the western Balkans and some areas in central Europe had the largest negative temperature deviation in Europe in the first third of this April.

Map show deviations from the average in the first third of April 23. Most of Algeria for example had negative deviation from average and northern Scandinavia positive, but still northern Svandinavia was much colder than Algeria in first third of April. Because their averages are very different.

Etymology of Kosanica is related with grass, same goes for Sjenica which was mentioned here several times. Kosanica came from Serbian word 'kosa' ('scythe') or verb 'kositi' ('to mow'). Sjenica came from Serbian word 'sjeno/sijeno' which means 'hay.'

Cold morning for July. Daily low today was officially 0.2c (at 2 m), but at 5 cm from the ground temperature was below 0c https://twitter.com/skomimaster/stat...76589484654594

For comparison in July 2022 there was officially two days with frost (-2.2c on 12, and -0.2c on 14), and one day very close to frost with low 0.2c as today (on 19). July 2022 was cooler in region in general than this one.
