    Question Ethnicity of US Citizens

I would be interested to see the DNA results of apricity members who are US citizens. If you've taken multiple DNA tests, post the one you think is the most accurate based on your known family history. Also, feel free to state the last immigrant ancestor you had.

I've taken multiple DNA tests, but I think 23andMe is the most accurate for me based on my research of my family. The only categories I have no evidence of are Sardinian, North African, and Somali. Since these categories I'm uncertain of make up only 0.9% of my results, I don't think they're a huge stain on the accuracy of the test (especially because I can't trace past my 2nd great-grandparents on one side of my family, and they were immigrants). The specific locations I'm listing under the categories are the ones I received on the test and have confirmed through research.

My last immigrant ancestor on my mom's side was my great-grandfather, who was from Croatia (born in Sisak-Moslavina county). My last immigrant ancestor on my dad's side is my 4th great-grandather, who was from France (born in Marseille).

    My Results:
    - 27.5% British & Irish (Greater London, Glasgow City, Kent, County Galway)
    - 25.3% French & German
    - 14.4% Scandinavian (Rogaland, Telemark)
    - 19.4% Broadly NW European
    - 8.1% Eastern European
    - 2.4% Greek & Balkan
    - 0.5% Sardinian
    - 1.9% Broadly European
    - 0.3% North African
    - 0.1% Somali
    - 0.1% Unassigned

Did you have ancestors of Italy or southern Europe?

Mine were not accurate. Family tree and lineage is more important. I am mostly German and Irish, English, French, Baltic, Scottish, some Spanish and distant Amerindian.

Asking for Ethnicity of US citizens on a random forum how is that a scientific overview ? Anyhow, love, I've been in the USA for yonks which has been a ghastly experience. At the end of the day most Americans are not British genetically (if that makes sense because British is also a culture) ? I feel commercial DNA tests are poppycock : 23andme is run by Jews and AncestryDNA is run by Mormons etc... it is utterly bonkers to trust science to such religious fruitcakes. My family has been in the USA since the 1800s :

The southernmost country I can trace my ancestors to is Croatia. I supposedly have Italian ancestry, but it’s never been confirmed.

23andme has been the closest to my actual paper trail.
I’ve been building my familytree through ancestry for about 10 years now and from that I’ve concluded my Fathers side is mostly Colonial English which dates back to the 1600’s in Kent,England. He’s also Irish (this is the family my surname comes from) that immigrated to the United States from Cork, Ireland in the late 1700’s

My mothers side is a bit more mixed. Most of her family is Cajun French that settled in Louisiana. My ancestors were mostly from Brittany, Normandy and Poitou-Charentes (lates 1600’s) They settled in Montreal first before Louisiana.
Her maiden name was Zimmermann and they originated from Saxony, Germany (early 1800’s) She also has Norwegian from Stavanger that immigrated to North Dakota in the early 1800’s. And then I was able to confirm her SSA ancestry, a French ancestor of mine had children with his mistress slave in the late 1700’s. It’s stated she was most likely from the Senegambia slave trade. And there you have it lol

I also have an ancestor with a Sorbian surname from the 1800’s however I never score any Eastern European on these tests so I’m unsure of the accuracy on that.

Damn, you are the most Med looking Anglo in the world, lmao. I would say maybe it is because of your SSA but I doubt 1.9% would affect your phenotype that much, idk.

    Cool results!

I'm American! But... sorry to say I think everyone knows my results already. My parents only recently immigrated to the US, so I am not mixed. Nontheless:

23andMe estimated to arrive in 3 weeks or so!

Wow! What a history! Thank you for sharing. How far back is the ancestor with the Sorbian surname if you don’t mind me asking? Hopefully your EE pops up eventually!

I don't think the SSA does tbh. Most Brits would kill to have her tanning abilities tho, that is for sure.
