That's not what the genetic studies say.

Brazil is more SSA than Amerindian, same as Cuba, but compared to Cubans, we Brazilians have significantly more Amerindian imput.

Only the north is more Amerindian than SSA, which is comparable to many parts of Hispanic America, like Northwestern Mexico.

The Brazilians here in New York City are middle-class folks. They're not of working class or campesino background like the Dominicans, Mexicans or the old wave of Puerto Ricans (well NYC at some point had more Ricans than Puerto Rico itself). I'm seeing more Venezuelans lately and they are similar to Brazilians in that aspect btw. Colombians are a mixed-bag from what I've noticed. I also know some educated Mexicans but they are very few compared to the bulk in the city that come from Southern Mexico. No Argentino and no chileno living here so far in my experience. ps. I forgot to say that the brasileros in NYC are usually from the main cities in my experience at least (Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Recife, Rio, Belo Horizonte). Rarely from the southern states. Many don't like to be associated with other Latinos LMAO. Odd enough because a lot can speak Spanish.

There are no Argentines, Chileans, or Uruguayans living in New York? I don't think so, there must be some.

I imagine. But compared to the Brazilians they seem very few. Remember I was talking from my experience. We even have a Little Brazil here in Manhattan.

This is the reason why many Brazilians do not consider themselves Latinos, most people associate Latinos with Spanish, and this is complicated, because we are very proud of our language, and of being Latin Americans too, but as long as people associate Latinos with Spanish, this will continue to happen, especially with these middle class Brazilians living in the USA
