Default Distribution of M80'D subclades in maritime East Asia

Haplogroup M80'D is a large and widely distributed mtdna, but a lot of the diversity and the ancestral subclades are found in maritime East Asia, which renders it a likely place of origin for the haplogroup.

    Phylogenetic tree

    M80'D
    • M80
    • D
      • D4
      • D5'6
        • D5
        • D6

Specifically, M80 is found in the Batak people of Palawan in the Philippines.

Subclade D5'6 is found in Taiwan and the Philippines with the Austronesian peoples. D6 is found mostly in the Philippines and D5 is mainly found in Taiwan. Also, D5 is found in the Celebes islands and D6 is found in the Timor islands in eastern Indonesia, where they both spread with the Austronesian migration.

D4 frequency is increased and many ancestral subclades are also found in Japan.
