Well if you see that way athletes are good representatives, being prime examples of the viewed population. On the other side they are not your average people, because to be a good athlete you have to have genetics for it. Therefore they have traits that are mentioned before. Idk how it relates to looking western or eastern tho.. this argument really not going anywhere.

I was saying that those who are athletes gonna be pretty similarly built compared to each other while the general population has much more variety of looks

Poles!!! Obviously. Remember in the Soviet days, a British, German, Belgians, Dutch person or spy in Russia could be confused for a Pole or Baltic one. Yeah Russians are quite Eastern or Oriental European!!!

Poles look more Western, IMHO based upon their West-Slavic origin combined with some ancestries from Germans, Baltics, etc..IMHO, Poles present a ethnicity quite pure to the original Slavics.

Russians on the other hand is more complexed puzzle. There are many Russians who look quite Nordic, with excellent racial features. However, there are also Russians with non-white appearances, mostly based on mixures of their ancestors with mid-Volga minorities, such as Chuvash, Tatars, Mordwins, etc.

Its a case to case situation I suppose. Yeltsin for example is a Russian I classify as a man with dubious origins.

Yeltsin looked very Western when he was young. It's only in his older years that he appeared to look "Russian".
