Default Historic Legacy... How well is it protected in your country/city/or certain region???

Architecture is the most "visible" way of art.
    We see it every day.
And it shows us how developed are cities we are living in.
And also it shows us how culturally rich our area was before we were born...

BUT it doesn't matter what we had before.
iMPORTANT what we will have in the Future...

How well is Historic Architectural Legacy protected/defended in your area ?

    How many buildings are protected/defended??

How often are buildings restored by local budgets or private investitions???

    And one more question:
How well is current situation is accepted by average citizen/person????

    P.S.
I have information only about postUSSR countries.

In Odessa 1016 buildings are defended. Also this number is falling down because buildings are ruining per every year and this list in not wanted to be enlarged
In Kyiv 3000+ buildings are defended. And this number is surpirsingly rising per every year!
In Moscow 5593 buildings are defended. And this number was rising per every year before the quarantine.

"Old Towns" are well preserved across the majority of Bulgaria. There is no charity involved, its a multi-million Euro tourist industry.

    AFAIK
in some western countries (England, Austria and probably few more countries) local historic legacy is not protected/defended at all.
    Why?

They have only very weak legal status for laughable minority in buildings.
For example , in London there are only 600 buildings "listed"
    https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/serv...%20be%20listed.
While area of London has 20000+ historic buildings.
And the conception of "listed" doesn't mean "defended" : (

    Slightly better example :
    Glasgow = 1800+ "listed" buildings.
    https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/article/1...sted-Buildings
But still too low if we are talking about how large was Glasgow during the late XIXth century (~1000000 inhabitants) and how culturally rich it was.

iMO Budapest is nice example among countries preserving their historic heritage.
    * interesting how it looks in the context of legal system? The same situation as in Germany when every historic building is defended by law??

Greatest thing = rebuilding objects destroyed during the WW II

In my opinion quite well, Spain is the third country with the most "World Heritage Site" and I suppose that will help (receiving subsidies, etc.)

Well, in a country like Spain a sizable chunk of the economy depends on tourism, so historical sites and structures are rather well preserved.

    Santillana del Mar:

    Albarracín:

Unfortunately Glasgow was the victim of post war planning. Depopulated areas deemed as slums and a motorway runs through the city.

Edinburgh has a reputation of being almost militant in its conservation and urban planning. Doubt there's anywhere in Northern Europe that can match the capital. Listed buildings will be in the thousands.
