Whites held a civil war against each other to ban slavery, because among other things, many had already realised that it wasn't useful at all. For no one. It wasn't bringing profit, especially in the South, as the cotton fields lost to the over-productive and over-profitable mass industries.

And, you're wrong about the demographics. In the 19th century already, America was 85% white, and 5% Natives, with at max 10% being black. In the late 19th century, from 1870 to 1970, America was 90-91% white, 1-2% Natives, 0.5-1% Asians and 6-8% blacks.

It has to be noted once again, that tiny minorities actually owned slaves at all. The vast majority of the population was piss poor to even get basic amenities, let alone have a proper house.

It wasn't a Civil War, and it wasn't to end slavery.

Cant think of one single nation on earth in all of mankinds history, that actually has gained anything from blacks. Especially in the long term. Also black slaves where often used for lighter work inside the house, because they where rather expensive.
