    Default Old German police helmet/cap.

I stumbled upon an American propaganda video about the Germans and I noticed that the policemen wore this distinctive helmet or cap (look at 3:36). Does anyone know whether it was just was just worn by the police in Berlin or whether it was used throughout Germany and when it was taken out of circulation ?

Thanks. I immediately checked the German wiki page.

They really should bring them back.

I find it weird that the Germans are now also in the process of switching their uniforms to blue. Another thing to fall in line with the rest of Europe -- as if the hallmark of a German copper isn't the fact that he wears a green uniform.

Hmm it should be reintroduced .. (well.. without the swastika) of course and it could use by municipal police services or by the State Police. It would probably be a bit too cumbersome for the Federal Police though or for highway patrols.
