^^^Okay, but that is just a minor part of CE. This thread isn't to determine what countries CE includes, but weather such cultural region where people feel solidarity towards each other still exists.
I personally think it does not, that CE stopped existing in 20th century and now we have west-central and east-central Europe which are pretty far from each other in culture, economy, politics, lifestyle and whatever.

But that is just my opinion.

I think it is at least debatable. In my opinion to get a definition of CE that takes into account as many things as possible, you cannot base the division on political borders only. Only part of Poland is CE (basically South Poland) and I'd also include parts of Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.

Don't Germans consider themselves to be western Europeans nowadays and much closer to eg. Dutch and French than for example Czechs and Hungarians?
That's what I had in mind. Or not?

That's not what the topic is about. There are millions of threads about definition of CE, this one isn't about that.
What I gather is that CE died with cold war and west-central Euros feel western Euro today while only some east-euros cling on CE label because they dislike to be connected with eastern Europe or Balkans depending on the county we talk about.

Correct. I Wouldn't call Germany Central Europe and either do Germans call themselves Central-European. The far more common self-classification is "Western-European"

Although sometimes "Mitteleuropäer/in - middle european)) is still used.

Yes, they do. Everything east of Germany is usually considered Eastern Europe and culturally different. If it was just a matter of identification, I'd agree with you that there is a clear boundary between Western-Central and Eastern-Central Europe.
