I read Floresiensis split from our lineage very early, before Homo Erectus was a thing.
Neanderthals were interesting because they showed characteristics that were progressive and primitive at the same time. They had larger brains than Sapiens but had protuding mouth with a recessed chin and large browridge which looks a bit similar to a chimpanzee.
Neanderthals were one of the few human species besides homo sapiens that had great potential to develop a civilization, had it not been for the inbreeding. It quite sad that they went extinct.

The Moa. The drumsticks and breast meat must have been amazing because the Maori managed to help them on the way to extinction in a relatively short period.
Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

Aurochs were huge compared to domestic cattle, one of the latest big animals of Ice Age megafauna who survived almost till today, but they were exterminated by humans entierly by 17th century.

They're a mistery to me. They've been present in the middle east and Europe for like 600,000 years (or maybe longer) but never developed anything interesting. Sapiens ventured out of Africa only 50,000 years ago and completely overtook Neanderthals, quickly developed agriculture, civilizations etc.

Prehistoric Europe wasn't really a very safe place.

cool thread. I really like prehistoric animals and still i watch documentaries about them like many many years ago. Imagine, not even 15000 years ago Europe had the same megafauna like Africa/Asia. I like early mammals too, but i am a big fan of every prehistoric non-mammal species.
