Thank you that was quite interesting. I agree with the man in the video that it is a shame that Ireland on a whole don't speak the Irish language. It would have made them more distinctive as a people. Both Finland and Ireland had bigger and powerful neighbours. Hopefully both Ireland and Finland will have similar causes in the EU and they can band together.

Diplomats point to the growing sway of the so-called “New Hanseatic League”, a wider Dutch-led group of hawkish finance ministers including those from the Baltic states and Ireland. Its main achievement has been to scupper French proposals to bolster the eurozone on the basis they could lead to fiscal transfers from stronger to weaker members of the single currency bloc.

Also in the thread that Finnish Swede posted about Global Food Security Finland is no 1 and Ireland no 2.

The New Hanseatic League, or the Hansa,[3] was established in February 2018 by European Union finance ministers from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Sweden through the signing of a two-page foundational document[4] which set out the countries' "shared views and values in the discussion on the architecture of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union (EMU)." The name is derived from the Hanseatic League, a Northern European commercial and defensive league which lasted until the 16th century.

I think it's a pretty great accomplishment when two countries that experienced famine in the 19th century can reach the height of the Global Food Security Index. It speaks well for their cultures.

I did think of the famine yesterday in regards Ireland but wasn't aware of a famine in Finland also. Ireland did have food during the famine but it was exported but that's all history now so won't go into it here. A interesting parallel for both countries though.

This is an interesting website where you can compare different countries.

    https://countryeconomy.com/countries...inland/ireland

Some interesting things Finland has higher divorce rate than Ireland, less immigrants, also less people migrating, Irish have a higher birth rate, life expectancy similar, Finns have higher suicide and murder rates, Finns have less debt and less risk of poverty, they also have a lot more female representation in Government, Ireland export more and also import more.
