On the whole, is there more British ancestry in Canada or Spanish ancestry in Argentina?

I'd say easily more Spanish into Argentina. Based on simple Google searches this is what I've found... Canada received 800,000 British (also Irish, Scottish mixed in there) from 1815-1850 and this was the most prominent wave. Way more french went to Canada than british. Between 1857 and 1960, 2.2 million Spanish immigrated to Argentina, and that isn't even considering the fact that before that even more, and lastly the mixed mestizo population (Spanish + Native).

Post colonial Spanish imput in Argentina came mainly from Galicia, to the point that many Argentinians started to call "gallegos" to all Spanish immigrants, regadless of their origin.

On a genetic/phenotypical/cultural cluster, the main Euro components in Argentina, Spanish and Italian, are closer to each other than British and French in Canada.

Yeah, both are genetically very influenced by their late metropolis, but Argentina is only slightly more Spanish than Italic, while Canada, even if pred-British, still has a strong French element, and it's not super homogenously Brit like New Zealand, for example.

Canada is still around 3 times more British than USA, Australia and New Zealand are around 8 times more.
