My daughter is soon going to be two years old. She loves books and she speaks French very well. She is also learning Flemish now, as we recently put her in a Flemish crèche. Sometimes, I like to watch some short films with her and I’ve even bought a book proposing great films that children should watch, according to their age:
I have already watched with her some cartoons by Yuri Norstein or Hermína Týrlová, or some Tex Avery’s, in the original language, and she enjoys them. But I’m not sure I should, as she grows up (when she will be 3 for ex.), continue to show her films in the original language. Would she enjoy that, even if she doesn’t understand everything? By the way, I have already downloaded plenty of films for her for free, which are in the original language and I don’t necessarily find them dubbed.
What should I do? From what age should a child watch movies in the original language?
