Psychiatry isn't used to tread Alzheimer's generally. Psychiatry is useful but it's abused and basically just a way to peddle big pharma's stuff. There is value in psychiatry though.

That is a poor portrayal of psychiatry though. A psychiatrist does not actively work with a patient generally, they usually work with a psychologist. Psychiatrists are the ones that prescribe medication, a psychologist works through therapy not medicine.

IMHO, psychiatry of today want to put disorders on people, as opposed to the one yesterday that wanted the opposite.

Psychiatry is basically dedicated to giving you a little pill, so that you don't give too much trouble, to others or to yourself.

The problem with psychiatry 20-50 years ago was that the medication was largely toxic and caused a lot of birth defects and other problems. We traded lack of testing for over diagnosis unfortunately. But I agree, people are over medicated when a lot of them could benefit solely from therapy.
