Why do Irish people look so different from Scandinavians if they're so close genetically?

Scots have the shortest average height in the UK (obviously due to diet), less than Irish. Maybe stop talking with authority on European ethnicities when you've probably never left Virginia.

Men were at or around the height of modern women back then! At one point, frontier Americans were the tallest group of European descent. I believe Komlos mentions this in one of his papers. My guess is that they shared the Highland Scottish carnivorous diet.

Yup meat (not just muscle meat) and dairy products help. The 3 biggest consumers of milk per capita are Fins, Dutch and Montenegrins


Go back further and our ancestors were bigger than the middle ages. A bog body from 1 or 2 BC found in Ireland was estimated to be 198cm (6'6).

Irish and Irish Americans are literally about the same height. Americans are probably slightly taller because of their Germanic influence as well. Sorry, but most Irish are not tall.

Yes, that’s true. I am from a Dutch - speaking family. We are tall or above average, but we do not have «giants» ( over 7 feet)

You are a white mutt, meaning a mixture of various European ancestries as most White Americans are. This is different from a Basque from North Spain, or a Welshman from North Wales or a Scottish Highlander or an Irishman from the Aran Isles, or a Russian from Arkhangelsk, a Frenchman from the Massif Central region, a Finnish person from Tampere, etc...
