In that sense the "real Brazil" is unknown by a lot of people even ínside Latin America, I perceived that in Central America (even my wife who is from there thought that) people thought that white people were only in the south and were mostly of german background and the rest of the country was full of mulattoes. (OMG!!!)
But there, Brazil was not an exception, talking about Argentina, they thought "it was conquered by the italians" (sic) and it was extremely hard fot me to explain them that despite here came huge italian inmigrant waves, the country was conquered by spaniards.
It's incredible how people there ignored a lot of things of our countries, but at the same time the same happen in the opposite sense.

Another distorted image of Brazil is the idea that you can tell for sure from which social class someone belongs to based on their race/phenotype.

And while it's true that a Brazilian like this:
    Spoiler!

... is more common in the upper class than this one:
    Spoiler!

... it's not like a complete segregation existed here. Not at all. There a big social inequality, which is consequently also racial, but it's more like a continuum, you can find a good chunck of caucasoid phenotypes in the working class either. It's easier for a white to ascend in the social ladder here than a black/pardo, but meritocracy is still an exception in the classicist Brazilian society, so many whites here were born and will die in the middle class.

"Did they confuse you as a person from Goiás?"
I think yes. But sounded in a bad way, I feeled like they didn't want foreigns studing there, It's sounded like I could't be part of them, they also said it to me one time (something like I occupied a local's place). But maybe they are only closed people (they looked very, very, cold people to me). Instead, my Chilean uncle invited me to live in Santiago many times.
I want to know what does a Full ancestry German Argentinian/Brazilian assign in US census? My friend said me they can mark White the same way White Americans do that. Do they mark Hispanic?

You mark White as your race and then Hispanic/Latino as your ethnicity.

We don't use those terms, it's very rare, I'd just go as brazilian, if they want I will bore them with my resumed ancestry and show them my passports lol
All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces

I'd like to know what do Portugueses think about US Census regarding to
    label Brazilians as ' Hispanic'?
Do we Brazilians need an exclusive category to separate us from our neighbors ?
    I think no, but...

En América se usa es latinoamericano, los otros 2 términos se suelen usar más aquí en España.
