What a weird dialect lol! I understand almost nothing, maybe 20% at most. They have extremely strange accent, lack of "r" in pronounciation remind me of French/Germans than in some ways pronounciation remind me of Scandinavians/they sound like drunken Vikings. In short sound like archaic Slovenian with Germanic pronounciation.

I wonder does Alenka understand all of it.

I somewhat understand them, though they've got a funny accent.

It's so called Windisch (politically laden term) more or less a mix of Carinthian German ("r" dont really exist) and Slovenian. I think one would neet to know German and Slovenian to understand everything. As a Croat speaker you have little chance understanding it.

Livija, I'm not asking you for your home adress, but may be you'd reveal at least the region? Prekmurje, Stajerska, Koroska, Kranj?
I the given context it would be helpful.

That hurts, Sorbian clearly sounds to me like a Berliner over impressed by his own Polish language skills.
