No, Russia is not the Russian citizens. If it were it would have stayed a Grand Duchy in Eastern Europe, instead it stretches two continents. Russians have no power against the "criminal group I have in mind", namely the administrative apparatus of emperial Russia.
Donbass is a puppet state, but Zelensky is more of muppet than a puppet Be certain that Russian envoys told Zelensky prior the elections that they were willing to negotiate, and the imbecile thought he was gonna save Ukraine Zelensky is just an inexperienced politician propped up by Russian interests in Ukraine, who did all the leg work to have him elected. Now, this is backfiring on everyone, his lack of experience and support has brought the region closer to hot war, like it never was during Poroshenko's mandate.

Land is just as important, in Moscow's view. Kiev is only 500 miles of flat land away from Moscow, that's a day and half of march for modern motorized units.
Whether that's important today, in an era of cruise missiles and drones, is very debatable, but that's the current defense doctrine.

Any country is first associated with its people(s). Only in your twisted mind it should be associated with a governmont or even a government.
